My name is Alicja. I come from Poland were I taught science for two years. Since my arrival to Australia I have been teaching Polish in the Community Language School, 'The Polish School of Sydney' at Randwick http://www.polishschool.org.au/. Both schools presented me with an incredibly rich opportunity to observe teaching in two different educational environments. Also, I have worked as a Student Service Officer at the Mercury International College where I got to meet people of very diverse cultural backgrounds. Through that experience I have become more aware of cultural diversity among people, the importance of maintaining cultural identity and respecting it in all means.
Working with children across all different stages I have discovered the greatest pleasure while teaching younger group of children. I find the learning process for this particular group very interesting and student centered teaching approach along with 'hands on' learning strategies are very inspiring to me.
I believe that in order to become a good teacher you have to be moderate and allow flexibility while teaching but the most important are the children, looking at all of them as valuable individuals.
I have named my portal "Happy Teaching" for my aim is to have happy students who are encouraged, motivated and successful in their endeavours by adopting a positive attitudes towards themselves, and becoming lifelong learners.
Purpose of the Blog
This portal has been designed as a requirement of my Educational course at the Australian Catholic University. The purpose of it is to develop my reflective thinking during the teaching practicum.

Purpose of the Blog
This portal has been designed as a requirement of my Educational course at the Australian Catholic University. The purpose of it is to develop my reflective thinking during the teaching practicum.
"Reflection is an important tool for learning to be a better teacher." (Killen, 2003). I believe critical reflection, developed through class observations, will help me to improve my teaching skills and it will allow me to transfer my thoughts and reflections onto the "paper". Also, it will prepare me for my own reflection towards my teaching experience. Through this blog I will be able to look back and compare current experiences with those that happened and have been recorded on the blog. It will enable me to analyse situations, teacher's and students’ behaviour, and my perception of teaching but more importantly it will allow me to grow and improve as a teacher as my ideas evolve and change over time.
