ICT integration

Implementing ICT into education enhances students learning outcomes. "Smartboard "is an excellent tool that can make the learning process more meaningful. Students' work is no longer limited to the  blackboard, notebook and exercise book. Interactive board is a great stimulus for learning for the students of current time.
One of the most important aspects of introducing new technology, such as SMART Boards, into the classroom is the willingness of teachers to share their knowledge and ideas. Here is my ICT resource and sample activities prepared for year 1. The aim of the exercises is to practice vocabulary and numbers related to food. Those activities are designed in a way that students can practice language skills by describing pictures, counting, adding or subtracting items.

Activity 1:
Students match items with the particular colour of the basket. Students can use the interactive pen to mach fruit and vegetable with the basket or they can move object and pace them into the designated area.

Activity 2:
Students are asked to count fruit and vegetables in each basket and find the matching number. The teacher can do variations to the activity by asking students how many, for example apples or bananas they have to add to match it with number 10.

Activity 3:
Students are asked to match words with pictures. Students use the interactive pen to match words or can match words with pictures by mowing objects. You can varied the exercise by adding plural form of nouns and asking students what they need to do in order to have the plural form of the word “tomato” - tomatoes.

Activity 4:
Students are asked to arrange words in the right order. Students move words on the interactive board in order to make the whole sentence.

Activity 5:
Students count how many more apples, bananas or strawberries they need to add or subtract tin order to have the right number. Students use the interactive pen to write the correct number in the gap.You can varied the activity by changing the numbers or the amount of fruit.

Activity 6:
Teacher shows a picture retrieved from the web page. Short questions related to the picture?
  • How many of us are in the picture?
  • How many apples are on the Tree?
  • How many apples have we got?
  • How many of us are eating apples?
